RBOC Griping

Happy Sunday to you all. I don't have much to say, but I feel a bit like I'm losing touch with the blog (or losing the blogging touch, or something). So the goal for the next bit is to do something, however useless, regardless. It may well be time to take suggestions for posts again. Honestly, isn't the start of Spring (more or less) the time when we start doing pointless memes? I'll keep you posted. In the meantime:
  • Daylight Savings Time is the new Office of Financial Aid: seriously, never have I been so thoroughly screwed by one bureacratic concept since second semester of Freshman year of college.
  • One More Reason I Don't Want a Roommate When I Move: baseball season has again come to take over the television. Baseball announcers might be more mindless than reality television.
  • One More Technodisaster For the Road: just in case I wasn't sure, IT has done its bit to help me out, by telling me there was a piece of software on all available computers on campus. Tonight one of my students e-mailed to tell me the software was a trial version that has, evidently, been expired for some time now.
  • The Trouble With Healthy Eating #314: cooking fish makes an apartment impossible to actually live in.
More soon.

#314 depends on the fish. Salmon will render a small place uninhabitable for 48 hours. Swordfish will not -- possibly, though, because it's best served only lightly seared, which means the actual cook time is only 4 minutes or so.

And I guess we're not supposed to be eating swordfish anymore anyway. Damn.

I, too, despise daylight savings time. I know we're supposed to love the extra hour of daylight in the evening, and I am (grudgingly) grateful for that. But I have a really strong internal clock and it is not fooled by this alarm going off one hour early nonsense. Do. Not. Like. And baseball I don't even grudgingly like. It's fine that it exists and all, but why must there be so much of it--and all of it televised? Going to games is one thing, but watching them makes me sleepier than, well, the first morning of daylight savings time!

Finally, I join you in cursing your IT department. So lame. In my new gig I am served by the IT team that takes care of the chancellor and other top administrators. They are the most amazing IT folks ever! (and mostly women, which is an interesting change. not sure why that should be interesting, but it is different...) Your post made me appreciate them even more!
