RBOC: Oh What a World Edition

  • Cookies by mail? Holy god, so good. Girl Scouts, you're on notice.
  • Last week of the term (not counting finals, of course). Now if only one more person would sign up for my summer course. They could drop at the end of the first day. That'd be alright.
  • I must be getting old because I found myself mentally trying to marry two of my favorite students to each other. I can only attribute this to age.
  • Two departmental events left to get through.
  • I'm considering changing my insurance company because their commercials are that annoying.
  • What do you think it would take to get Oprah to pay off my student loans? Hell, I'd let Flava Flav help, even if it meant hearing him shout his name for three hours straight.
  • Did I mention cookies in the mail? Swoooooooooooooooooooon. Seriously.

for some reason, this post made me want to send you cookies in the mail.

if only i knew who you were and where you lived, mysterious dr. curmudgeon! since we are, of course, strangers.

My plan is working!

Now to get Oprah (or even Flava) to read the blog.

i wonder what kind of cookies dr. curmudgeon likes? anyone want to post some guesses?

there was this time once--oh yeah, just a couple of months ago--when i was thinking of trying to mail a cheesecake to this friend for their birthday. i ended up not doing it because i couldn't figure out the logistics. but all this talk of baked goods via post makes me wonder: could you send a cheesecake in the mail? would it take? overnight on dry ice? that would be cool, because then you could eat the cheesecake WHILE playing with the dry ice...

I received a cheesecake from a publisher once (long story). I'm pretty sure it had been overnighted and shipped with dry ice.

I'd been looking forward to seeing what the speculation would be about my dessert habits. Ah, well.

I'm torn here, raised as I was that you should be glad and enjoy anything someone else makes you to eat. But I'll confess that where cookies go, as with most of my appetites, I'm inclined to avoid the appearance of healthy at all cost.

I know, I know. I should probably take care of myself and try to live to a ripe old age, but I'm not convinced old age is what one wants in my family.

That probably helps not at all, but I'm feeling guilty for accidentally begging. And I'm procrastinating.
