Music Meme - the Conclusion

This morning I found myself wishing, among other things, that all of my blog posts had titles like "Super Happy Gigantic Complaining About Students Post of Joyousness" because then it would feel like a Japanese game show. It's probably for the best that I haven't followed that instinct or this post might be titled "Colossal Fantastic Answers to Memes You've Forgotten About Love Time."

Kill your darlings, right?

Anyway, here are the answers to the Music Meme post from awhile back for anyone who is still curious.

4) "Feel Alright" - Steve Earle
5) "Passing the Hat" - Cold War Kids
6) "Heaven" - the Golden Palominos

#4 is who I saw live last week :) Great list, though I don't know a couple (e.g., Cold War Kids?)

I've never seen Steve Earle live (except on Austin City Limits), but I imagine he'd be a good show.

Here's a link to one of their songs on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrrGKR8Xii4 . They're pretty good.

He was a god. His wife opens for him and she is also wonderful... it was a magical show.

Huh. I didn't know his wife was a singer, too - crazy. That means he's singing, his sister is, and now his wife.

I tried to make the case to a friend awhile back that he's the closest this generation has to a Johnny Cash or a Willie Nelson because he's so willing to be political. They didn't seem to like the idea, but I still think there's some validity to it.

He was also good on "The Wire" so it's hard not to love him.

Well, she *is* like his fifth or sixth wife, so there is some reason for your not knowing that :)... I think you're right on about the Johnny & Willie comparison. (I saw Willie last yr- awesome!).
