Insult to Injury

Today I got a note from one of the schools that didn't hire me. It was asking for some follow-up information about my interview. Specifically, they wanted to know where I heard about the job so they could better ensure future positions were advertised most (cost) effectively.

However, this is the same school that took two months to reimburse my travel expenses, and then only managed to reimburse half of them. And no explanation was given.

So I'm sitting here trying to decide how to politely suggest that committee go (cost) effectively fuck itself. But it occurs to me that this might not be the best thing, particularly as I anticipate going on the market against next year.

And that's why you have the blog!

Doing the mature thing sucks a lot of the times, doesn't it?

(Personally, I'd type up an FU response on letterhead and then burn it. I'm compiling all my rejection letters for a big barbecue in the near future.)

That's pretty bad. They're supposed to collect that sort of data *before* the interview. Actually, I'm surprised they didn't ask for it in your cover letter.

One time a school set up an out-of-state interview with me, had me book a flight, etc. ... and then called me to cancel because they loved the first person they interviewed and "didn't want her to get away."

Jerks.

I've choked down the irritation to a reasonable level, even having dodged the desire to write the full message then only send them half of it, in accordance with what I was reimbursed.

In the end, I gave them a useless answer. And I've taken to mentioning to all my friends and contacts about how poor that school's treatment of job candidates is.
