The Not-so Long Odds and a rotten day

For those of you who're curious, the contract was ratified. Here are the various things you may have placed bets on:
  • not only was there a quorum, more then 2/3 of the faculty voted
  • the contract was ratified by a little over 4:1
And in other news, it's been red-headed step-child day, with "new" furniture gifted from other departments. Maybe next year, one of 'em will give us their last dollar so we can take a shot at the Golden Ticket.

And that said, today has been an absolutely awful day. The reason why isn't really something fit to be mentioned here. But I've got a couple of dear friends who are having a worse time of it than I can imagine. It's not often I'm at a loss for what to do for friends, and this one has floored me. So if there is actually anyone reading this, take a moment and think a good thought for them and their loss. And be thankful for what you've got.
